WE HAVE KIDNAPPED RONALD MCDONALD
01/02/2011We are the Food Liberation Army, and we hope that this extreme action will take us towards a better and safer food future.
Two days ago we kidnapped Ronald McDonald from a McDonald's Restaurant. If you do not answer all the questions we will execute Ronald on Friday February 11, 2011 at 6:30PM EET.
We love burgers, fries and McDonald's, but we can no longer watch silent when the food we love is being destroyed and brought to shame because of greed and indifference. Because of your short-sightedness your burgers have become nearly inedible.
That is why we want to help McDonald's to save food. We made you a list of questions we want you to answer. We hope that your answers will make you understand the dilapidation of the food culture we love and the appropriate measures.
1. Why are you not open about the manufacturing processes, raw materials and additives used in your products? What are you afraid?
2. How many tons of un-recycled waste you produce per year? Why do you not publish that figure?
3. Do you operate with unethical actors, such as illegal immigrants? Why?
4. Why do not you take responsibility of your culinary consequences? Why do you not seek to prevent obesity, diabetes and their ramification deceases?
5. Why do you not just use ethically produced meat? Do you not think it should be a goal for everyone to serve meat of an animal that has has had a good, clean and drug free life? Why is it not your goal?
6. Why is cheap production cost your main value?
7. Do you think your only goal is to maximize your owners´s profits? What do you think would happen if you begin to produce quality to your customers?
8. You are big and global player that reaches a significant part of the earth's people. Why do you use your power to short-sightedly maximize profits and not to create a better world ?
We are not alone, but represent a rapidly growing population. We have moved quickly towards better quality and ethicality of consumption. It is in your interest to answer our questions publicly, and develop your activities through them. Only this way you will survive in the future. Listen to our message and the Move. We will reward you by eating more of your burgers.

josephstructure: Funny but pointless. You people support a greenwashed liberal vision of "corporate ethics". Pathetic. There is nothing political about consumer activism (i.e. the "to buy is to vote" bullshit) and there is nothing ethical about a mass production corporate system seeking profit by all means (i.e. post-industrial capitalism). We either come together and bring it down or continue pointless actions like these which can only be recuperated or simply ignored. The longer we wait, the harder the fall. Wake up.

anarkia-ananas: siis minun mielestäni tämä mainio tempaus nimenomaan on tärkeämpää kuin ko. yrityksen boikotoiminen! TOIMIMINEN ylipäätään on todella tärkeää! ihan liian moni jää vaan ihmettelemään eikä loppujenlopuksi tee mitään millekkään asialle: "kyllä asiat hoituu itsestään", ei, vaan juuri tällaista hyvää toimintaa tarvitaan!! Tätä tempausta tehdessä kukaan ei ole loukkaantunut eikä suurta vahinkoakaan, siis juuri asiallista toimintaa. Olkoonkin arvoton muoviukkeli, asia huomataan ja saa ihmiset miettimään. Tämmöinen kannustaa itseäänkin toimintaan!! ihmiset vaatii liian vähän! meidän kuuluu vaatia hyvää. Eikä vaan seisoskella tyhminä.

eetu: Voi p***a, mitä nyt käy kun poliisit löysivät Ronaldin? (Iltiksen mukaan) . En uskonut missään vaiheessa että Mäkkäri vastaa kysymyksiin, mutta ainakin se olisi joutunut ikävään tilanteeseen. (Ja vaikken itseäni erityisesti väkivallan ystävänä pidäkään, Ronaldin pään katkeaminen olisi myös tuottanut minulle iloa.)
Nyt pitäisi saada jotain muuta liikehdintää aikaan, jotta tärkeitä kysymyksiä ei sivuutettaisi.

lto208: this had potential, but the demands were too vague- why not talk about how the cattle industry needed to fund mcdonalds production are consuming vast territories of land and displacing indigenous communites and wildlife, or you could talk about how the animals that become the menu at mcdonalds are being fed byproducts and tortured before being slaugthered en masse, but instead of actually informing people about what mcdonalds does, or clearly making a political statement, you concentrated on why they hire "illegal" immigrants? wtf. Nice way to show that you have a colonizing attitude just like those you you are critiquing.

sfl: I think McDonald's food is disgusting but this whole "protest" aimed at McDonald's isn't completely about them. It's more about blind, hate driven anti-Americanism. If McDonald's were a European company, Asian company or any non-American owned company with the same "standards" they have now then groups like this would have no problem with McDonald's.. Like i said it's an anti-American thing.

Nomigusta: If people are going to go after McDonalds for all of the horrible things they put in their food, then they should waste no time going after the FDA, which regulates all of the chemicals and additives. The corn subsidies- the government pays farmers to grow corn- hence high fructose corn syrup (WHICH IS NOT GOOD FOR YOU), the drug companies, GMO's, all of these huge big name producers put nothing but crap in the store packed foods we all consume. You want to fight obesity, diabetes, and all other sorts of horrible health disorders. Stop eating at these places!

On tämä nyt vallan erinoimainen taideteos jos teidän tarkoitus on kehittää Mcdonaldsia siihen suuntaan että ihmiset söisi siellä enemmän. On meinaan aika rohkea kannanotto. Aikamoista.

Maybe in your little fantasy world where all the stupid people lives its more healthy to eat at MCD, but in real life well, how long does it take for meat to break down... a FEW weeks, a standard MCD burger takes more than 6 months to break down so I can see how much more healthy that is !
